How Did You Get Started?
I first got interested in competing as a motivation to stay on task with my own training. I had done a lot of running in the past which resulted in surgery on both my knees. I had to take time off from running so I was out of shape and decided I liked the look of a figure competitor. In the process of getting back into shape the fitness bug bit me and I became a personal trainer. I started training harder and the desire to look like a figure competitor turned into a passion to become a figure competitor. In April 2008 I competed in my first NPC show and took first in tall and first in masters at the Heartland Natural Classic. I then started training with Explosive Edge Athletics (www.explosiveedgeathletics.com)in Minneapolis and shortly after that in June of 2008 I competed in the Gopher State Classic and brought home 2 more first place trophies in both tall and masters and qualified for nationals. I have since continued my training with EEA and have been progressing more than I ever thought possible. I am planning on going to Cleveland August 29-30 to the North American's.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
My workouts have changed quite a bit over time depending on what I have needed to work or improve on. I have also learned a lot along the way. Right now I need a lot of emphasis in my lower body. I've had to work a lot on leaning and shaping there. My upper body has a tendency to respond pretty quickly and easily to what I do to it so I'm doing a 3 day strength training split with 2 of them working lower body. On my first lower body day I'm doing a plyometric based workout and the other leg day I'm working more with weights. I'm doing one day of all upper body focusing a little more on my back as that is something that has needed the most work in my upper body. I'm doing cardio twice a day 6 days a week. Currently running 50 min in the am on the days I do not have lower body keeping my hr @ 130+ and walking 50 min on the days I do with my heart rate between 120-130. For my evening cardio I'm doing 4 days of stair climber on days I don't do legs for 40 min. keeping my heart rate between 130-140. What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
For my diet right now I am eating 8 meals a day. I am eating the same meals at the same time every day so that when and if anything needs to be changed in my diet it will be easier to judge weather or not the changes are helping. I am eating 2115 calories, 134.5 proteins, 54.5 fats and 264 carbs right now. I am currently 6 wks out from North Americans Nationals in Cleveland. What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Why Do You Love Fitness?
I love competing because it gives me the drive to workout hard and eat clean. It keeps me motivated to stay in shape. I also love the fact that being able to accomplish what I have to this point has helped me in motivating my clients to achieve their health and fitness goals. I love being able to help inspire others. Plus I'm a very competitive person so I love the rush I get from competing and from the focused training leading up to competition day.
