How Did You Get Started?

I got started all by the luck of a conversation. One day at work a co-worker I hardly spoke to asked me for a ride home. Once we started driving home I asked my 6'2" coworker how he had gotten so big (290 pounds). He told me he had been an inspiring bodybuilder back in the late 90's early 2000's.

We started talking about my physique and that day the idea was planted in my mind. Needless to say countless rides to and from work I agreed to allow him to coach and train me to see if it was something I could do.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

As I train, whether it is for my first show or throughout my life, I have always changed my routines based upon my current goal or muscle needs. I found that my favorite workout that seems to have brought me the greatest gains was the one I started 7 weeks out from the show. I found not counting my reps helped to let my mind focus more on the action of lifting rather than trying to get done with the set.

Day 1: Shoulders/Calves/Abs

Day 2: Quads/Hamstrings/Lower Back

Day 3: Chest/Biceps/Abs

Day 4: Cardio Only

Day 5: Back/Triceps/Lower Back

Day 6: Quads/Hamstrings/Lower Back

Day 7: Cardio Only

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Here is a sample day of my nutrition plan. I followed a very strict diet with almost no variables.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I have always tried to use a minimal amount of supplements so as when I introduced my body to a new products I would be able to better feel the effects. Like my diet, supplement use was pretty basic.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love bodybuilding because of the overall lifestyle and the feeling of "the pump". My whole life I focused on playing sports having a regimen to follow, training plans and diets. I missed those days and now with my new found love of bodybuilding I feel like the younger me is back. Fitness has always allowed me to de-stress from the long hard work days.

Nothing beats a rough day at work than knowing at the end of the day I can go somewhere were like minded people are going to be engaging in something that brings me joy! Now with my new found love of bodybuilding, it takes that love to the next level.

Now I not only just train for my personal peace of mind but I train with a purpose of symmetry, and respect for the past people who have laid the ground work to allow me to do what I love and compete in these competitions.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

I am motivated to follow a healthy lifestyle because of my past and what the future may hold. In my family health problems run wild and the scarce thought of falling victim to that is just not an option for me. I want to start a new trend for my family and the future generations to come, showing them that a healthy lifestyle can lead to a better living.

Now after competing in my first show I am motivated by other competitors, my girlfriend who also competes and a great fitness team in which I started up once I decided to commit to my first show. I want to make sure not only to follow what I preach but lead by example to everyone else who is involved in my life.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

Having never competed in a show but missing the feeling of competition in my life I wanted to achieve my goal primarily to show myself I had the self discipline and work ethic to do anything I set my mind too. Also, once I committed to doing the show I assembled a Team called So Chi Fitness and I felt it was my duty from that point on to not let myself or my teammates down.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

My future plans I like to tell everyone is "The Sky's The Limit"! After finishing second in the bantam weight class of my first show, I qualified for nationals. The next show I am eyeing is the NPC Nationals in November in Florida. After what I hope is a good showing at Nationals, being an IFBB Pro would be a dream come true! Pro status just has such a great ring to it. Ha-ha!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

The one tip I would give to others is: Always visualize your goals and I found the best way to do that was to place pictures and motivational quotes all around my house to act as a constant reminder of the goal ahead.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I have a few favorites for different reasons. Arnold aka "The Oak" for just getting my interested in fitness after seeing Pumping Iron at such a young age. In today's bodybuilding I really like Kai Greene. I not only like his massive back but I like his back story how he was an unknown who surprised the world. I also find myself watching a lot of videos of Branch and Johnnie working out primarily because I love their intensity and how they remind me of my workout partner and myself.

What Features Do You Use On Bodybuilding.com?

To be quite honest I know you get this a lot but I use every feature of the website. Love the motivation you get from BodySpace. Nothing beats the great training tips that help you when you are in a rut with your own personal workout. Nutrition plans and recipes help to spice up the bodybuilder diet, which we all know can be tough. Plus all the knowledge of supplements and videos you can watch and read up on cannot be beat. Hands down this website as made a tremendous impact in my life.
