Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Greg DeMone
How Did You Get Started? I started weight training in my basement due to sustaining career ending injuries in soccer. I gradually progressed from there to joining a local gym. I was then introduced to more intense and advanced exercises and was eventually approached to try the competing arena. My first show was in 1990 and I have been training and experimenting with my diet ever since. What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I train most bodyparts once a week with the exception of quads and hams,
which I train twice a week. Calves are trained every second day and Sunday
in mostly a day of rest. I vary my exercises, weight and reps as I believe
this shocks the muscles constantly.
Day 1 - Shoulders/hamstrings
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains? I use only a select few and they usually consist of Tribex Pro-testosterone formula and the Muscletech products are a thumbs up such as: Cell-Tech and Nitro-Tech. Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love watching my body change and continuously grow. The gym atmosphere is
a must after a hard day at the office and nothing beats the feeling of a
muscle pump.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? My future plans are to compete in the 2001 Canadian championships in my home city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The next step will be to qualify myself for the 2004 Olympics in Salt Lake City. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders? I would tell all people who start weight training/bodybuilding in general to leave your ego at the door. Make certain you perform all exercises correctly and sacrifice weight for form any day of the week. If you perform the exercise correctly, regardless of the weight being used, you will grow. With proper form the muscle bellies will become full and round with great definition giving you the illusion of a bigger and heavier athlete. I am living proof of this. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? I always liked Shawn Ray and Lee Priest (the little guys). These are small men that have packed on tremendous amounts of muscle... enough to beat the much larger framed guys.
