How Did You Get Started?

I've always been active, however after having 3 children did not have the time to go to the gym as often. I woke up going into my 39th year not happy with the way I looked and decided to do something about it. Registering for a show was the incentive I needed to get going and start dieting and exercising. I wanted to be the best looking 39 year old out on stage.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I do cardio morning and evening. My first morning cardio is done on an empty stomach. In the evening after work I go back to the gym do my weight workout and then after weights do another cardio workout. I love using the stair master (Gauntlet)you must pick your leg up. My weights would consist of a depletion for every major muscle group every other day.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

My plan is get plenty of protein and less fat and carbs. I have a 3 on 1 off plan when it come to Carbs. I go 3 days low carbs (not no carbs) and then one day where I can have carbs. Breakfast consist of small amount of rolled oats, half of a grapefruit and 6 boiled egg whites. Mid morning snack would be a protein shake, Lunch, broiled chicken breast and some green beans, Mid afternoon snack, another protein shake. Supper would be some fish and broccoli, I love all kinds of fish but love Tilapia when training for it's flavour.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I started with Muscle Milk to help with gaining muscle and the taste made it easy to start drinking protein again. I switched to NeoGenix Mango protein for the isolate protein content and it had less fat. Off course I take my vitamins and minerals, (Flax seed, Omega 3-6-9., Co-enzymes Q10, a Prenatal Vitamin and CLA.)

Why Do You Love Fitness?

I love fitness/figure because anyone can compete in the sport - You do not have to have some magical ability. You just need the desire to achieve your goals. I also love that it sets a great example for my 3 girls. (Althea 18, Pamela 16 and Breann who will be turning 9 years old.) The girls can see a positive way to sculpt their bodies without fad diets and unhealthy weight loss options. With figure I find the competitors get better with age. I thought I would be the hottest 39 year old on the competition circuit, however the field is packed with awesome looking women. I am so proud to be a part of the group.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I plan to compete in 4 competitions this year including my pro show in November with the IDFA where I received my Pro Card last November. I will be doing the WNSO FAME level 3 shows in hopes of getting my Pro Card with that organization as well . I am aiming for a Cover on Oxygen or at least to grace the pages.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?

Register for the competition early and start training early. I find when I register early I have a clear goal to aim for and I get very focused to achieve/attain that goal. You are also never too old to start. If this is something you want to do go out there and JUST Do It.
