Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Edward Parker
How Did You Get Started?
Kept fit for most of my life playing sport, especially Rugby League when younger at school and after school when working down the coal mine. After joining the police force in 1973 I kept up the fitness side of training to assist in that line of work.
In November 1992 I worked back stage at a local bodybuilding show and was very impressed at what I saw and how different each bodybuilder looked compared to the average man on the street. 12 months later I was competing.
After three years came 1996 (Age 49) - this was a big year for me…
Competition History:
Last competed in Sept & Oct 2004.
*** Unable to compete May 2005 NABBA Great Britain due to having operation on the Esophagus Sphincter Muscle in Jan. This also left me with an incisional hernia which the consultant is supposed to rectify with a minor operation in two days time (14th Sept.). What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
My Training Is A 4-Day Split:
During the off-season I keep the abs awake two or three times a week. Bearing in mind training with guys half my age, the 4 day split and rest periods seem to work well for me. Off-season I keep to all the supplements listed and only change protein drinks to one with low carbs while on a diet. What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You? Best gains off-season seem to come from eating good food, supplemented with protein drinks, creatine, amino's and HMB. I also like a recovery drink immediately after training. What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains? Chocolate proteins, creatine, HMB, Vit C, Multi vits, Amino's, L-Glutamine & Flax Seed Oil. Why do you love Bodybuilding?

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? I should be back in the gym in six weeks and hopefully able to prepare for the NABBA Great Britain final in May 2006. If there is not enough time I will prepare for the NABBA England Sept. 2006 and hopefully qualify for the 2006 NABBA Universe. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? Arnie, Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman, Lee Priest and the freak Markus Ruhl.
