Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Jason Ciarabellini
How Did You Get Started? I was about 13 when I started playing around with weights. I was always the runt in all my classes and just wanted to be bigger. I soon realized I wouldn't grow very tall so I might as well be as wide as possible. I first competed in 2002 taking 4th at the Tacoma Gold's Classic, that sucked, but then again so did my posing. I soon got with a trainer (Terry Cook) and went on to win The Washington State Light/Heavyweight class and took best overall in 2003. I decided to step it up a notch and do the Emerald Cup in 2005. I won the Light/Heavyweight class.
2007 Treasure Valley Classic What Workout Plan Worked Best For You? I really just love to train, I love to be in the gym. I train 5 to 6 days per week. I hit every body part once per week. I believe in volume. I never just stop because I did X number of sets. I train a body part to full exhaustion. Sometimes 4 sets, sometimes 8. I never count reps, I don't care. It may take 5 reps to fail or 15. What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You? Nutrition is very important to me. I try to eat every two and a half hours. I eat lots of lean red meats, fish and turkey. I like to keep all my carbs clean, brown is good, white is bad (simple rule). What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains? I use lots of whey protein, aminos, and vitamins. I try to get most of my nutrition thru whole foods, but the need to supplement will always be present if you want to progress. I am a big fan of stimulants and fat burners. They give me a good kick in the gym and get me through the day when I am dieting. Why Do You Love Bodybuilding? The rush from working out is amazing. I love to train and enjoy the atmosphere of the gym. What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? Next up for me is Jr. Nationals this coming June. Then, who knows (depends on my placing). ![]() Click Image To Enlarge. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders? My best advice to new people starting to lift weights is don't be too concerned with how much you are lifting. Everyone wants to attach a number to what they are lifting. The weight is simply a means to the ultimate result. Focus on your physique not the fact you can now "bench 300 lbs." What's more important is that you look like you can. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? I think my favorite pro is Lee Priest. But I am most inspired by Mark Dugdale. I think my physique most resembles his. Who knows maybe some day I will be judged next to him on an IFBB stage. Thanks for taking the time to read this!!! More Pictures! More Bodybuilder Profiles:
