How Did You Get Started?

A friend got me started lifting weights when I was 17 years old. I decided to compete in my first figure competition as a goal to lose weight and get into really good shape. That show was the Natural Ohio Drug Tested Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Championships in Lakewood, Ohio in April of 2002. After that I was hooked on competing!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

If I am preparing for a competition, I like to use low weight and high reps. Since I am new at this, I am still experimenting and trying to figure out what works best for my body. If I am not preparing for a show, I like to lift heavy with low-moderate reps.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I have been using EAS Simply Protein since I started lifting. Dymetadrine Extreme by AST helped me a lot for the past two competitions I did in the beginning of April. I will be using that again for sure. I also just started using Muscle Milk. I plan on sticking with that for a while.

Why Do You Love Fitness?

There are many things I love about fitness. First of all, it keeps me in shape and makes me feel good both physically and mentally. Secondly, there is always something new to learn, whether it is something about training, diet, or the actual competition side of the sport. Meeting new people is something else I love about fitness. I have met some great people through this sport. The thing that I love most about fitness is the ability to motivate others. When people tell me that I have motivated them or inspired them, it makes all my hard work pay off!

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I am planning on doing a few shows in late summer and early fall. My goal is to qualify for Nationals and then I will take things from there. This sport is definitely something I want to pursue as much as I can. I would love to get into fitness modeling.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?

One tip I would give is to set long and short term goals for your self and always stay FOCUSED! Surround yourself with positive people who will have a good influence on you and encourage you to reach your goals. You can do anything you put your mind to!

Who Are Your Favorite Fitness Competitors/Bodybuilders?

There are way too many to name all of them. I admire everyone in this sport because, unlike other sports, this is a lifestyle. It takes so much focus and dedication. If I had to name a few off the top of my head I would say Kelly Ryan, Monica Brant and Mari Kudla.
