Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Marc-Antoine Rivard
How Did You Get Started? I started training at college at 18 years old. I took Bodybuilding Course 1 (beginner) and it was great to understand all the bodybuilding concepts, all the different training types (tempo, reps, etc.). So the next year I took Bodybuilding Course 2 (advance). It all started there. Since then I've never stopped training. I subscribed to a gym close to my house called "DJ Gym" and the results were fast and amazing, because I was tall and a little skinny when I started!
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You? It's tough for me to gain weight and I get shredded easily. So I do training with medium and heavy weights. I do a training split of 3 days with 4 exercises for each body part between 8 to 12 reps. I do all the basic exercises, nothing too complex, and the results are there! Since my chest is already big enough and my goal is to be proportional and symmetric, I skip this body part or I do a training of only 1 exercise every 2 weeks and I do on day 1 or day 2. Sometimes I change my training to do super sets. I never do cardio. I'm just a lucky to have a fast metabolism!
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You? When I prepare myself for a contest this is what I eat. 7 meals/day:
6:00: 8:30: 11:00: 13:00: 16:00: 18:30: After My Training: 21:00: And after 3-4 weeks I can take 1 cheat meals every 5 days (I always eat pizza) And when I'm not dieting... I eat everything I want!
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains? Hmmmm. There are no magic supplements. To obtain great results there is one thing do to: eat well. I believe your best tool for growth and getting ripped is food. Nothing beats being consistent with your diet 7 days a week. Remember this: You Are What You Eat!
Why Do You Love Bodybuilding? Bodybuilding brings me so many goods things. It helps me understand how my body works and how it responds with different diet types. Then I can use it in everyday meals when I'm not on a diet. By understanding the 3 mains category (protein, fat and carbs) and playing with it, I can obtain the result I want. After so many years of training and learning about this sport I can adapt my training to sculpt my body like I want by doing the right exercises I need to grow my weak body parts and be symmetric and proportional.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans? I started competing in 2004 and my goal is to always improve my physique to be better than the year before! Here is my contest history:
And now my dream is to be on the cover of a Fitness Magazine. And also obtain a Fitness/underwear/fashion modeling contract!
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders? I have one thing to say: train hard, eat well and train natural. It will be longer to obtain results, but it is worth it and you will keep your shape longer. Take your time, train well and it will pay off!
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders? The best physique ever will always be Arnold Schwarzenegger. He hadt the perfect proportion, perfect height (6' 1.5" just like me), a 32" waist (again just like me) and he is so symmetric... he's perfect! There is also Dexter Jackson, I like him because he has a small waist and has perfect abs... but he's just a little too short. I also like Johnnie Jackson.
