Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Michael Grossi
How Did You Get Started?
I started lifting weights when I was 12 years old and was already writing out my own workout programs. I got very serious with my nutrition at 14. I started lifting to improve my appearance and to get into better condition for ice hockey which I played for 10 years. View My BodySpace Profile: bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/mikegrossi. What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You? Whenever I hit around 300-350 grams of protein per day and 400-450 grams of carbs/day with 50-75 grams of fat/day I have always seen the best muscular tissue growth with the least amount of fat gain. What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains? Whey protein, glutamine, creatine, alcar and Vitargo have always worked best for me but nothing beats sound nutrition and a solid workout program. Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love bodybuilding for numerous reasons. First, a healthy, lean physique is the best gift you can give yourself. The confidence that one gains from being in shape and muscular is unparalleled. Second, bodybuilding opens the doors to many other worlds such as acting and modeling which can be very beneficial. Lastly, bodybuilding teaches a person discipline, goal setting, and ambition to keep getting better and better and to never settle for anything less than excellence. What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
This year, Nov 2006, I plan to step on stage at the 2006 NPC National Championships and compete as one of the youngest (22 years
old) super heavyweights to ever step on the National stage at that weight and look fantastic. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders? The one major tip that I would tell other bodybuilders is to persevere through any negative feedback, comments, or insults. When you are prepping for a contest, or even just dieting down, you will encounter many things that will be rough on you. Your social life will be almost non-existent, others will see what you are doing as strange, and it will be tough to remain positive and keep your eyes on your goal. Trust me, in the end, it will all be worth it. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
My favorite bodybuilders would have to be Markus Ruhl and Dennis James. I see their physiques and notice the similarities in terms of mass and size that I can possess later on as I get older. Of course, I admire the looks of guys like Arnold, Frank Zane, Shawn Ray, and Jay Cutler, but those 2 are my favorites.
