How Did You Get Started?
I was a competitive gymnast for 12 years and after I graduated high school,
and had two knee surgeries; I decided to move on to a new chapter in my life. I have always been involved and interested in the whole aspect of health and
wellness and loved watching fitness competitions on TV. After attending the
Arnold Classic in 2002, I was instantly hooked. I learned more and more about
the sport and incorporated my many years of gymnastics into my first
competition last November.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
The workout plan that worked best for me was training single body parts six
days a week. I also include plyometrics and gymnastics two days a week.
Cardio also plays an important role in staying lean and changing up my program
keeps my body challenged. Here is an example of a weekly routine.
- Monday: Upper body plyometrics with chest and triceps and cardio later in the
afternoon
- Tuesday: Gymnastics and Cardio
- Wednesday: Lower body plyometrics with quads, hamstrings, and calves and
cardio later in the afternoon
- Thursday: Back and Biceps and cardio
- Friday: Shoulders and abs with cardio
- Saturday: Rest day or cardio
- Sunday: Gymnastics and abs
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I eat five to six times a day with about 300 calories and 30 grams of protein
in each meal. Carbohydrates are included in the first 3 meals and are
substituted with a vegetable in the last few meals. Some sources of protein
include chicken, turkey, tuna, fish, and egg whites. Carbs include brown
rice, yams, oatmeal, and an occasional plain rice cake. I also drink a gallon
of water a day. During the off-season I still eat good but I never pass up a
piece of cheesecake!!! What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Whey Protein has given me the best gains and I also take a Multi-Vitamin each day.
Why Do You Love Fitness?
I love the challenge that the sport of fitness brings. I am and always will
be a competitor and I love being on stage. This sport takes a lot of hard
work, dedication and discipline in order to be successful. Fitness has given
me confidence and helped me become more health conscious. I learn something
new about myself everyday and I hope to be a role model and motivator to those who want fitness to become a part of their life also.
What Are Your Future Fitness Plans?
I am planning on competing in three fitness shows this year, but my main goal
is to qualify for Nationals this May. I also want to earn my pro card in the
next few years and someday be on the cover of Oxygen Magazine!!!
What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?
Keep working hard and don't give up!!! Do your homework and don't be afraid to
ask questions. Give yourself enough time to be prepared for your show and
take each performance as a learning experience to better improve yourself for
the future.
Who Are Your Favorite Fitness Competitors/Bodybuilders?
I have too many favorites to pick just one. I look up to anyone who has the
dedication to be successful in the sport of fitness, figure and bodybuilding.
I do admire Monica Brant's physique, Suzie Curry's stage presence and Kelly
Ryan's incredible routines. I also look up to and appreciate all the support
my training partner Alan Lee has given me! He motivates me everyday to do my
best~ I can't thank you enough!
