Our Over 40 Bodybuilder of the Week was...
Phil Parker
How Did You Get Started? I started training to gain size for football and still, to this day, train hard and lead a healthy lifestyle. What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I use a modified version of the Mentzer "Heavy Duty" program (lost secrets)has worked best through the years for me. I am a "Power Builder" and have competed in strongman and powerlifting contests for many years as well as bodybuilding. Typically I train after work around 7 p.m. This seems to allow to accumulate all the calories throughout the day needed to get through my workouts. Of course two-a-days with cardio sessions start 12-15 weeks pre contest. I stick to basic compound movements: Squats, deadlifts, bench press, military press, Olympic bar bicep curls and stiff-legged deadlifts. Never more than 12 reps and usually only 4-8 reps in an attempt to build as much rugged dense muscle as possible every workout.
I do utilize drop sets, supersets and forced reps sparingly. Cable and isolation exercises are cycled in for contest prep when I use less heavy weights and attempt to bring out more detail. What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I am looking for a masters nationals win late this year in an attempt to finally go pro. What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
As Ronnie Coleman says, "Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift no heavy @ss weights." So, my tip is get under some weight and push and lift like your depends on it! Because it does. Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
Without a doubt Kevin Levrone is my favorite bodybuilder of all times. At his best none in the world ever came close to what he put on stage. I've met him on a few occasions and found to be a consummate gentleman and class act.
