How Did You Get Started?

About 5 years ago I had put on about 20 or more pounds and had lost my motivation and hope for being as fit as I wanted to be. One day I finally had enough and found a healthy weight loss plan and started to work out consistently with the weights. I found out as much information about training as I could and stumbled across a competitor which opened the door to competing. I had no idea that fitness and figure was something I could do. I changed my eating habits even further, chose a show and the rest is history.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I do a 4 day split, back/bi's, chest/tri's, legs, shoulders and 1 day of circuit type training. I train heavy and hard and focus on upper body at the moment. Cardio is at a minimum but it is a stress reliever for me so I enjoy cardio a little too much.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

While training for a show I stick to 6 meals, and cycle my carbs closer to the show date. I take in about 200 grams of protein carbs vary depending on how I am coming along. During the off season I will usually bump up my carbs and incorporate fruit and a bit of dairy. Otherwise I eat mainly the same foods all year long, eating clean and structured works well for me.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I would say using a good quality whey protein from trueprotein.com, ISS Satur8 Rush during my workouts and Xtend from Scivation.

Why Do You Love Fitness?

I am very competitive with myself so competing is something I do for myself, not to prove anything to anyone. The creativity involved with competing in fitness is one aspect I love. Mixing my own music, coming up with a theme and working with a seamstress to create a cool outfit. There is always some aspect that a competitor can improve upon so always having a focus in my life and structure makes this lifestyle perfect for me.

What Are Your Future Fitness Plans?

More than anything I want to motivate others to lead a well balanced, healthy lifestyle. I enjoy writing articles and helping other women interested in competing. My goal is to have a regular column in a fitness magazine and hopefully motivate and inspire women of all walks to lead healthy lifestyles. I want to continue to compete and improve each year, building quality muscle and improving my fitness skills. I am looking to compete either this fall or spring 2008.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?

Enlist the help of others and build a solid network of supportive people in your life. Maintain a realistic and optimistic attitude. Never let anyone tell you that you CAN'T do something.

Who Are Your Favorite Fitness Competitors/Bodybuilders?

Tanji Johnson is someone who I admire not just as an athlete but as a person. And that is important to me. Integrity, dedication and the desire to help others. My boyfriend Jason Wojciechowski, a national level bodybuilder (www.jasonwojo.com) who will be competing again at Nationals this fall, has the drive and dedication that inspires and motivates me. Athletes in general push me to take my passion as far as I can.
