How Did You Get Started?
Well I have always been active playing sports
in high school. I ended up hurting my knee 1 year, and I had to work
with a physiotherapist who had me start training with weights to
strengthen the muscles surrounding my knee, and I just fell in love with weight training.
10 years later after dreaming of being on the cover of a fitness
magazine, I decided to stop dreaming and start working at making this
dream a reality, so I decided to compete. Once I stepped on stage I was
hooked, I can't imagine not competing, I'm always striving to improve
my weaknesses and bringing a better package to the stage each time I compete.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I basically train the same way
year round: weights 5 times a week, and lifting heavy. Off-season I
keep the cardio sessions to 3-4 times a week, 30 minutes each time.
During my on-season I have to increase the cardio; how much I do
depends on how my body is responding and how far I am from my
competition weight. It's not uncommon for me to get up to 2 cardio sessions a day.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
I find that a low carb
diet helps me lean out the best. My on-season diet is filled with lean
protein, lots of vegetables, healthy fats, and some fruit. During my
off-season I eat more complex carbs, and allow myself some cheat meals.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I like to use the
following supplements year round: Isolate protein, casein protein,
glutamine, BCAA's, fish oil, vitamin C, B-complex, digestive enzymes,
and of course a good multivitamin.
Why Do You Love Fitness?
I love fitness because it makes me feel strong
physically and mentally. I love how I can change my body through
dieting, weights and cardio.
What Are Your Future Fitness Plans?
My current fitness plans are to
continue to compete... actually I'll be competing next on Sept. 15th,
2007 at WBFF Worlds. I would also love to be in a fitness magazine
someday, and I will be, so look out for me. :)
What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?
I would say to
them: "Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do it, you can do
anything you put your mind to. Just believe in yourself!"
Who Are Your Favorite Fitness Competitors/Bodybuilders?
Sylvia Tremblay - not only do I look up to her as a fitness competitor, and happy to call her a friend, but I'm also grateful to her for always making me
beautiful suits to display my physique.
