How Did You Get Started?

I had the pleasure of meeting Monica Brant one day while training at Gold's Venice. She graciously accepted an invitation to lunch with my husband and me. While at lunch I preceded to ask her everything fitness and nutrition related question that I could think of. She answered all of my questions and suggested that I call her nutritionist, Kim Oddo (bodybyo.com). I called Kim and started working with him right away. I wanted to challenge myself and it was Kim's suggestion that I enter the Excalibur Figure competition, which was December 6, 2003. In my first competition ever, I walked away with two trophies! I placed third in the masters division and fourth in the medium class!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I train each body part once per week, except abs and calves which I train twice per week. Cardio started out at 35 minutes four times per week but as the competition become closer the cardio increased. The last four weeks before my first competition I was doing cardio 55 minutes 2 times per week at high intensity.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I try to keep my diet at 50% protein, 35% carbs, and 15% fat. I eat a very clean diet & drink about a gallon of water per day. I avoid fruit, dairy and processed foods.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I use VPX Zero Carb Protein, Glutamine, BCAA, Methoxy, Ecdysterone and Smart Blend.

Why Do You Love Fitness?

I love the way it feels to be in shape!

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I want to add another 3 -4 pounds of muscle and compete in several shows in 2004. I would love to do some fitness modeling or product endorsement and be featured in one of my favorite magazines!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?

Hire a nutritionist to help with your diet and supplements.

Practice! Don't overlook the importance of your stage presentation. Practice walking in the shoes, quarter turns and your overall presentation. When you walk out on stage you want to exude as much confidence as possible and smile!
