How Did You Get Started?
I have arthritis and three years ago I had a severe flare up that left me to where I could hardly walk. It got so bad that I was placed on a juvenile dose of chemotherapy. It was at that time my Rheumatologist-Doctor told me that I needed to start building my muscles because once my joints deteriorate my muscle strength will be all I can rely on. So I started going to the gym to strength train. It was just 5 months ago I decided I wanted to obtain more muscle definition and to start eating clean.
So for Valentines Day my wonderful and supporting husband gave me money to hire a personal trainer. After a few sessions with my trainer Amara Kockler with Team Crazy Fit she inspired me to do a figure competition. I was very motivated and stuck to my diet and fitness plan. I'm excited to say that I competed in my very first ABA figure competition on May 15, 2010 and took 1st place in my division and 2nd place in the overall show. I was so ex-static that all my hard work and dedication had paid off. I cried after the show because I was so grateful to have my health and to know that my body could battle back against the arthritis.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I strength train 5 days a week for 1 hour and I do cardio 6 days a week. My cardio consists of 25-50 minute sessions running or walking on an incline or elliptical. I also like to ride a stationary bike and occasionally use the Stairmaster. I try to change it up daily. I always do my cardio after my strength training or first thing in the morning when my schedule allows.

Why Do You Love Fitness?
I love that I'm a 37 year old mother of two and I'm in the best shape of my life. Fitness has made my family close. My husband and daughter are my gym partners. We are an active family we all go to the gym and workout together and live an active lifestyle. We are eating clean and we help keep each other motivated. I also love all the great people that we have met at the gym. Nothing inspires me more than to see others working hard and trying to obtain there fitness goals. I always say, "If I can do it anyone can."

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?
I have always been a goal driven person and I love the sense of accomplishment. Most Importantly I want to be a good example for my children. I want to instill in there minds that no matter what the challenge is in life, If you set your heart, mind and soul into it you can accomplish anything.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I'm currently training for some upcoming local shows this fall. I qualified at my first show this past May to compete at the ABA/INBA Team USA Show in Las Vegas Nevada on September 25th. I hope to gain experience and qualify for Team USA and represent USA in the Olympia in Reno, Nevada in November. The pinnacle would be to get my pro card and someday be on the cover of any fitness magazine. Why not shoot for the stars.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?
A favorite quote of mine to live by: The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power to tell when the clock will be still. So now is the time we own so live, love and work with the wheel for tomorrow the hands may be still.
