How Did You Get Started?

I ran track, swam, and played water polo in high shcool. When I went to college I missed the work ethic and hard work of competing, but I didn't want to choose just one sport. I also got sick of the college party scene and wanted to take control of my health at an early age. So I switched my major from business to kinesiology (fitness, health, nutrition) and learned everything I could get my hands on.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I found that lifting weights, running sprints, and doing plyometric exercises really challenges my body to make positive changes. Just being consistent is the key.

Arrow Sample Training Week:

    Monday: Arms/Shoulders- 10-20 interval cardio
    Tuesday: Legs/ 30 min moderate cardio
    Wednesday: 20-40 min cardio
    Thursday: Back/chest/ rear delts- 10-20 interval cardio
    Friday: sprints/ shoulders

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I found that a lower carb diet helps really close to a show but I also believe that you should cycle your carbs to maintain glycogen in your muscle for energy. Also the more vegetables the better. Off-season I work in more variety of healthy foods including fruit in the morning and more healthy fats so I can make changes closer to contest prep

Arrow Off-season Diet:

    6:00 buckwheat pancakes (1/4 cup buckwheat, 1/2 cup egg whites)
    8:30 1/2 cup oatmeal 1/2 scoop MaxPro banana
    11:00 1 corn tortilla, 4 oz. chicken. veggies all in big salad
    1:30 1 scoop Maxpro
    4:00 4oz. chicken. 1 oz cashews, veggies
    7:00 3oz. tuna, 2 oz. walnuts, veggies in big salad
    9:30 1 scoop Beverly intl. cookies 'n cream

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Glutamine is great for recovery and really helps me from not getting sick. I also love BCAA's in powder form before and after workouts or when I just need energy. I also use MaxPro Protein from Max muscle and use Beverly intl. for my night time protein. Makes for a great dessert!

Why Do You Love Fitness?

I love fitness because I feel strong and am constantly challenging myself. I also love how it is a never ending battle for improvement. The more I improve the more of a healthy example I can be for my clients.

I hope to use my knowledge to improve my own physique as well as help my clients reach their goals as well. I am planning to make a positive mark in the fitness industry in the next year and keep on motivating others. What One Tip Would You Give Other Fitness Competitors?

Be proud of yourself for your accomplishments and take your time. To many competitors will try to rush results or just think about winning. If you are proud of your commitment to health and fitness, then you win every time.
